Where farmers sell to other farmers
Potatoes. Royal?
Hard to believe, but when potatoes first came out they didn’t win any popularity contests. As the story goes, Cortez and Pizarro conquered Mexico and Peru for their gold and silver. While there, they discovered people eater tubers…the ancestor of today’s potato. When introduced in France, the potato suffered a public relations nightmare – the rumour started that potatoes caused fevers and other maladies. So, Louis XVI of France wore potato flowers in his buttonhole to stimulate interest in the new plant. From baked potato lovers everywhere – Louis, we thank you.
