Fantastic Steak with Tomato Gravy from Gramma Bep’s Gourmet Foods Inc.

2 lbs pounded beef cutlets
½ cup flour
3 tbsp margarine or butter
2 tsp Gramma Bep's steak spice

Sauce

3 tsp margarine
1 cup chopped onions
½ cup chopped celery
1 tsp sugar
1 can crushed tomatoes
¼ cup ketchup
4 tbsp flour
½ tsp steak spice

Ina flat dish, mix together the flour and steak spice.  Dredge the cutlets in this mixture and fry in margarine or butter until brown on both sides.  Place browned meat in roaster and cover with the sauce.

Sauce:

In large frying pan heat the margarine or butter; sauté the chopped onion and celery in this until lightly browned.  Add the flour and stir (this will look crumbly).  Slowly pour in the tomatoes and stir until all is well blended and makes nice smooth gravy.  Add the ketchup and sugar.  Cook until thick and cover the steak cutlets that have been placed in a roaster.  (If the gravy is too thick you can add a little more ketchup).  Bake in 325 degree oven for 1 ½ to 2 hours and serve.
