Growing success one vegetable at a time

Ever tried a mini-cocktail tomato or mini-red pepper? If you haven't, chances are you will soon.

Using the latest technologies in greenhouse growing and produce packaging, MucciPac is developing new items like mini-red cluster tomatoes, mini-cucumbers and even mini-peppers. “Anything 'mini' seems to be popular right now,” Danny Mucci says.

Danny and his brother Bert, along with cousin Gianni, are the second generation of Muccis to run the greenhouse and packing operation from their Kingsville, Ontario location. Brothers Gino and Tony originally started Mucci Farms in 1967.

“We've grown substantially in the last five or six years. Today we are marketing over 275 acres,” Danny explains. “It's been a lot of work but a lot of reward has come with it.”

Danny says their success is based on their product. “The quality and freshness can't be beat. Greenhouse produce is one of the safest food products on the market. Everything is grown in a clean, enclosed environment with no pesticides. The produce is picked and packed on the same day and often shipped the same day, or the next.”
