The world is his oyster.  Meet the Oyster Man.

Originally a prairie boy from Manitoba, Brent Petkau’s love affair with oysters began when he was first introduced to shellfish while touring New Zealand. Nearly 28 years later, Brent AKA The Oyster Man, is on a one man crusade to raise the profile of oysters, mussels and clams across Canada, if not the world.

“It’s a labour of love,” says Brent. “I’m honoured to be an oysterman. I believe in what I’m doing. The levels of oyster and clam consumption in the 1930s were higher then they are today. My challenge is to bring that back across Canada.”

Brent’s quest to put some muscle behind mussels seems to be justified thanks to their rich nutrient content and of course, the legendary aphrodisiac qualities associated with oysters. “Shellfish is the unsung hero of agriculture: no inputs, no antibiotics, just a sexy, delicious world-class food product from the get-go. It’s truly the sustainable seafood solution.”
