Where farmers sell to other farmers
Are you ready for this jelly?
Inspired by a desire to return to the earth, Andre Gendron and Francine Marquis settled in Auclair, a small village in the Appalachians of eastern Quebec. In the process, the adventurous couple also tapped into a rewarding business: organic maple syrup.
“We’ve been established for more than 25 years,” says Andre. “We have a maple bush of 7,000 taps, certified organic by Garantie Bio-Ecocert. The Toulidou Sugar Bush maple syrup has been certified organic since 2001. These very strict standards give us a very flavourful syrup.”
Andre and Francine have developed new products from their maple syrup by incorporating certified organic fruit juices. The result is their Toulidou Jellies.
“Today, customers can choose from apple maple, strawberry maple, raspberry maple, old fashioned maple jelly and the new one—maple/fir jelly. Some people spread them on bread, others eat it with a spoon right out of the jar!”
